Calm SEAS – Special Education Advocacy and Supports provides guidance, advocacy, and consultation to families and schools navigating special education. We focus on clarity, collaboration, compliance, and student-centered decision-making.

 Calm SEAS works with:

  • Families seeking support understanding special education processes, evaluations, IEPs, and advocacy options

  • Schools and educational teams seeking consultation, training, or support related to special education practices, systems, and compliance

Our work is collaborative and respectful of all team members involved.

 Services may include:

  • IEP, evaluation, and document review

  • Family advocacy support and meeting preparation

  • Consultation for schools and professionals

  • Compliance-informed guidance and systems support

  • Training and professional development

  • Transition planning and complex case navigation

Services are tailored to the needs of each family or organization.

Calm SEAS may serve in both roles, depending on the engagement:

  • When working with families, support may include advocacy, preparation, and guidance.

  • When working with schools or professionals, services are consultative and focused on collaboration, compliance, and best practice.

The role is clearly defined at the start of each engagement.

Yes, meeting support may be available depending on the scope of services. This can include:

  • Pre-meeting preparation and coaching

  • Virtual meeting attendance

  • In limited cases, in-person meeting attendance by arrangement

Meeting support is discussed and agreed upon in advance.

Calm SEAS primarily operates as a virtual support system, allowing services to be accessible, flexible, efficient, and without bias.

For larger engagements - such as district consultation, training, or complex support - in-person services may be available by arrangement.

No. Calm SEAS does not provide legal advice or make diagnoses. Support is informational, consultative, and advocacy-focused, grounded in current special education law, best practice, and compliance considerations.

Calm SEAS supports students across a wide range of needs and age levels. Services are individualized and focused on aligning supports with each student’s strengths, needs, and educational context.

Calm SEAS offers a complimentary 60-minute introductory meeting to discuss concerns, answer initial questions, and determine whether services are a good fit. There is no obligation to continue beyond this meeting.
